Corps of Engineers drops plans for $1B levee system in La.

The Army Corps of Engineers has decided to drop its plans to construct a $1 billion levee system between Bayou Lafourche and the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The Corps of Engineers said it cannot build such a structure in a cost-effective manner. The decision drew criticism from local officials. "They love to study things, but they don't implement," said Tim Kerner, mayor of Jean Lafitte.
