CDC releases snapshot of mosquito-borne disease in 2012

Last year, there were 5,780 mosquito-carried disease cases, excluding dengue fever, recorded in the U.S., CDC researchers wrote in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. They noted that 98% of these were caused by the West Nile virus, which accounted for 5,674 cases, including 3,491 hospitalizations and 286 deaths.
