House bill seeks to boost use of alternative fuels

Legislation that seeks to create a national open fuels standard was unveiled in the House of Representatives by Reps. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla. Under the measure, an increasing percentage of new cars would be required to run on alternative fuels in lieu of or in addition to fossil fuels starting in 2016. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen welcomed the bill, saying it would increase fuel choices at the pump.
