Mail-order Rx meds to be allowed in Maine

A state law enacted Thursday will allow Maine residents to buy prescription drugs from mail-order pharmacies in Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. The law will allow residents to capitalize on cheaper drug prices in other countries, which can be half of prices in U.S. pharmacies. Industry groups warned of safety and liability issues, especially with Internet sales, and the FDA warned that it cannot ensure the quality, efficacy or safety of treatments bought outside of the U.S.
