NPD: Athletic shoe sellers make strides in online sales

Online sales of athletic shoes rose 21% in the 12-month period ending in April compared to a 5% increase for the overall athletic shoe market, driven by the expanded assortment retailers can offer online, according to NPD Group. The research also revealed that online sneaker shoppers care more about brand, style and price while in-store shoppers care about comfort.
