Privacy concerns a factor for new HTML5 APIs

While HTML5 has raised a number of privacy concerns, the language is working to make Web browsing safer with a number of changes, such as doing away with the need for vulnerable plug-ins, Chris Minnick and Ed Tittel write. Guidelines for HTML5 application programming interfaces also seek to address privacy concerns by specifying how developers should disclose data collection, although there isn't yet an enforcement policy in place.
