Maryland district settles lawsuit over sex-ed curriculum

The Montgomery County school board has reached an agreement with two parent groups that sued over the district's now-suspended sex education curriculum. As a result of the deal, the groups will participate in a new citizens advisory board overseeing the curriculum's overhaul. In addition, school sex-ed materials will not discuss specific religious beliefs and, to the dismay of some, the district will reimburse the groups $36,000 for their legal fees.
