Analysis: Stem cell research to lead to clinical applications soon

Clinical applications are expected to result soon from recent research using stem cells to treat heart disease, according to experts. Scientists are said to be making advances in understanding how to cause embryonic stem cells to become heart cells, and believe the cells from embryos hold more promise than adult stem cells. Advanced Cell Technology expects to apply to the FDA within two years for approval of its hemangioblasts from embryonic stem cells to treat cardiovascular disease.
