Comment is opened for reporting requirement on chemical accidents

The Chemical Safety Board issued a formal notice last week that it will take public comment through Aug. 4 about how it should establish a new reporting requirement for serious chemical accidents. The Department of Homeland Security has pressured the board to set up the reporting rule, and the requirement was underscored in a 2008 study from the Government Accountability Office.
