NTIA waives domestic-sourcing rule for select broadband components

Although the federal government's stimulus package has a domestic-sourcing rule attached to it, the NTIA has waived that requirement for companies working on its $4.7 billion broadband-development program, given that the vast majority of computer and networking components are made overseas. Despite the waiver, companies participating in the program still have to follow the made in U.S.A. rule for fiber lines, coaxial cable and wireless towers.
