BP is still using Corexit chemical dispersants in oil spill

BP continues to use Corexit-branded chemical dispersant against the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, despite calls last month by the Environmental Protection Agency to find an alternative. In letters to the EPA and the Coast Guard, Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., warned that the dispersants "are not well understood." Lisa Jackson, the EPA administrator, defended the use of dispersants, saying they are "one tool in a situation that could not be more urgent."
