Chipmakers face off in CPU-GPU debate

Intel and Nvidia agree that parallel-processing capability is critical to computing performance but don't agree on the component that works best. Intel says it is the CPU, while Nvidia views GPU as best for processing workloads. An Intel study on throughput computing of the two approaches is sparking even greater debate between the chipmakers.
