Competitive fees help the MLB Network broaden its base

The relatively young MLB Network has, according to this report, established a competitive rate structure of 24 cents per subscriber that has helped broaden the base of Major League Baseball's channel to 55.4 million homes. The 18-month-old network drew an average 106,667 viewers from May 31 to June 20, which compares favorably with other single-sport nets, such as NFL Network and Fox Soccer Channel.
