Florida reports 16 cases of equine encephalitis so far in 2010

Health officials in Florida are advising residents to be on alert for mosquito-borne illnesses, after reports of 16 horses across the state that tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis this year. Officials also are urging in-state horse owners to have their animals vaccinated to prevent further disease spread.
