Judge clears way for Alaska Way Viaduct tunnel project

A federal judge in Seattle has dismissed a lawsuit that intended to halt construction of a tunnel replacement for the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The lawsuit centered on the lack of a complete environmental impact statement on all the construction projects, but the judge determined that the plaintiffs -- a trio of "concerned citizens" and an advocacy group called Citizens Against the Tunnel -- didn't explain how that would negatively affect them. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new south mile is planned for Tuesday.
