Small shifts keep customers coming, despite tighter belts

Monthly cooking classes, frozen martini glasses and customer loyalty discounts have kept traffic growing at J. Baldwin's near Detroit, during a downturn that shuttered more than a few of the city's eateries. Other area restaurants have found that downsizing to a more casual concept with a less-pricey menu served to bring back price-conscious customers and keep the doors open.
