Tax incentive extensions for construction blocked again

Forty Senate Republicans and Democrat Ben Nelson of Nebraska blocked a package of tax incentive extensions that could affect the construction industry. Some of the measures supported by industry officials include a two-year extension of the Build America Bonds program that helps finance public-works, $521 million in additional federal-aid highway funds and a one-year extension of a tax credit for contractors who build energy-efficient homes. This is the third time the measure has been blocked, and its future is now in limbo, writes Tom Ichniowski.
