Expert: More dry-mill ethanol plants will adopt fractionation process

The Renewable Fuel Standard's cap on corn ethanol and other factors could hasten the integration of dry-fractionation technologies into dry-mill ethanol plants, experts said. "We are moving from being a subsidy-driven industry to being an RFS2-driven industry," said Pete Moss, a vice president of marketing for Cereal Process Technologies. Some ethanol plants might have to "team up with others" to take full advantage of the capital-intensive fractionation process, which can increase the net income of a biorefinery up to four times, Moss added.
