NextEra, Xcel Energy sign deal for Colorado wind project

NextEra Energy Resources has signed an agreement with Xcel Energy to develop a 200-megawatt wind farm near Limon, Colo. "Our contract with NextEra Energy Resources is one of the lowest we've ever seen and results in a savings of nearly 40 percent for our customers," David Eves, CEO of Xcel's Colorado subsidiary, said in a statement. Construction on the 125-turbine wind project could start early next year and finish by late 2012, Xcel said.
