Strawberries may keep diabetes complications at bay, study finds

The fisetin flavonoid in strawberries helped curb kidney enlargement and regulate urine protein levels in mice with type 1 diabetes, a study in PLoS One found. The findings suggest that taking supplements rich in fisetin may help reduce the risks of kidney and brain complications in humans with type 1 diabetes, experts said.
