AAR: Freight rail investments serve as "world-class foundation"

U.S. freight railroads' investments serve as a "world-class foundation for America's intercity passenger and commuter rail operations," said Association of American Railroads President and CEO Edward Hamberger during a recent hearing on the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008. The reauthorization of PRIIA is important to help freight and passenger railroads continue with efforts that lead to mutual growth, Hamberger said. Thie AAR chief also described the AAR's "five key principles."
