Boeing begins assembly of KC-46A at Wash. facility

On Wednesday, Boeing started assembly of its first KC-46A tanker in Everett, Wash. Boeing plans to deliver 179 tankers to the U.S. Air Force, with the first shipment of 18 tankers scheduled for delivery in 2017. “The Air Force is really excited and pleased that our No. 1 modernization priority has begun fabrication and entered the factory at Everett,” said Maj. Gen. John Thompson, U.S. Air Force Program Executive Officer for Tankers.
