Customer reviews play a central role for local business discovery

More than 4 in 5 consumers say they check online reviews for local businesses, according to a survey from BrightLocal. More than 6 in 10 report reading between two and six reviews before making a decision. Almost three-quarters of respondents said they prefer to tell others about businesses through offline word-of-mouth rather than online, although the survey found Facebook gaining ground as a tool for recommending small businesses.
