"Grin lift" lightens perpetually grouchy expression

A fake public service announcement for people who have a perpetually angry expression even while at rest went viral after being posted on the humor website Funny or Die, but the phenomenon is real and can be troublesome, says plastic surgeon Anthony Youn. "Basically, many of us have features that we inherit and/or develop with age that can make us look unpleasant, grumpy or even ... [angry]," Youn says. Patients often seek dermal fillers and "grin lifts" to turn up droopy corners of their mouths, and thousands seek Botox injections to alleviate furrows between the brows that make them look angry, Youn says.
