Md. middle-school teachers prepare for environmental curriculum

In Maryland, some teachers are spending a part of their summer break along the Chesapeake Bay preparing for a new state requirement that high-school students learn environmental literacy. Sixteen middle-school teachers from Anne Arundel County recently learned about the environment, the bay and how to develop projects for students around those topics. A trip also was planned to Washington, D.C., and the Annapolis, Md., area, where the teachers were to engage in fieldwork.
