Krispy Kreme took the lessons of too-fast growth to heart as it set out to rebuild the company after its high-profile implosion in the mid-2000s, taking a slow-and-steady approach to build a more sustainable model. "We've learned an awful lot from the past. From day one, we told shareholders, 'We are not the place to be if what you want is sudden fortune,'" said CEO Jim Morgan.
