Many small-business owners are reluctant to take time off despite recognizing the potential mental health benefits of a vacation. "I know so many small businesses which have been struggling to bring work in that I want to be absolutely sure once I have my clients, I keep them," said Clare Bampton, founder of Bampton Communications in the U.K. But Bampton says time off is important and says it's a good idea for business owners to find trustworthy individuals to keep their companies running smoothly and to plan deadlines around vacations.
