Pfizer to offer its own generic version of Zoloft

In a move to undercut generic copies, Pfizer announced it will market its own generic version of its blockbuster antidepressant Zoloft, which had U.S. sales of $2.57 billion last year. The decision follows Merck's plan to market a generic version its own cholesterol drug Zocor, and signals a more aggressive strategy by branded drug firms against generics producers.
