U.S. M&A deals break $1 trillion mark in record time

Mergers and acquisitions in the U.S. broke the $1 trillion mark Wednesday, according to Dealogic. Private-equity buyouts, which include the acquisitions of Alltel and First Data for $27.9 billion apiece, account for the four biggest M&A deals in 2007.
