Agents concerned about future of river cruise industry

The decision by Peter Deilmann River Cruises to end its river cruises after the current season has raised questions among agents and operators about the longevity of the industry. River cruise executives, however, have voiced confidence in the industry's staying power. "In general, the river cruise market has been growing for the last six to seven years at an average of 10% a year. If you look at travel style and different markets' desire to participate in it, it's probably one of the healthiest around at the moment," said Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways.
