SEC proposals draw mixed reaction from mutual fund majors

The Securities and Exchange Commission has proposed new rules for the $3.7 billion money market fund industry. The proposals garnered a range of reactions. Some firms, for example, back changes that would improve transparency and market discipline, fund security and investor confidence. However, proposals for drastic changes in the organization or regulation of the funds have drawn criticism from some companies.
