Alabama lawmakers push for $3B interstate project

Alabama lawmakers are touting a proposed $3 billion interstate highway project as an economic boon to Birmingham. The 53-mile stretch of roadway would be called I-422 and would help create 69,500 jobs during the construction phase. A study estimated the project's economic impact would total some $7 billion during construction alone, plus $2 billion a year thereafter.
