Chicago educators attend multicultural training

A group of teachers from public magnet elementary schools in Chicago attended a pilot program the district created to educate them about the multicultural history of the city and help them globalize the scope of their lessons. The teachers toured the city's neighborhoods and listened to firsthand stories about immigration, stereotypes, culture and language. "Culturally aware teachers can help engage and empower students," said a participant who spoke with the teachers.
