Regulators take aim at "gas blow" pipe-cleaning system

Federal officials are considering whether to issue new rules regulating "gas blow" pipe-cleaning protocols after explosions at industrial facilities in Connecticut and North Carolina. Power plants and factories flush pipes with natural gas to speed the cleaning process, but safety advocates say sluicing pipes with air or nitrogen would be far safer.
