1-year weight-loss program may equal surgery results

Obese men and women who stuck with the Optifast weight-loss program were able to shed about 57 pounds and 43 pounds, respectively, a German study in the International Journal of Obesity found. The findings suggest that following a one-year program based on lifestyle changes may lead to significant loss of weight, almost equivalent to that of a weight-loss surgery, experts said.
