Rough roadways inspire new technologies for surfacing, sealing

U.S. roads -- in bad need of repair -- are fostering a boom in new technologies. For example, a company called Skidabrader is commercializing its surface abrading technology. Another is marketing a product known as Jointbond that lets highway builders better seal and stabilize asphalt to prevent raveling and water infiltration. Meanwhile, noise reduction technology is coming to the practice of grinding concrete pavement.
