AGC chief economist sees improvement in steel crisis

Ken Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, told members of AGC's Kansas City, Mo., chapter last week that steel prices, though still high, are heading in the right direction. However, Simonson said the current economic boom, which he expects to continue through the end of the year, may lead to "a lot more volatility" in materials prices and availability, especially for cement.
