USDA traces BSE cow to Texas

The Agriculture Department said it has traced the latest confirmed case of BSE in the U.S. to a cow born in Texas 12 years ago, making it the first case of an infected cow that spent its life in the country. The cow was slaughtered in November at a pet-food plant in Waco, Texas, and USDA officials are trying to trace herd mates born at the same time as well as any offspring born in the last two years.
