AMA suggests alternate ways to encourage EMR adoption

The American Medical Association understands the potential value and benefits of electronic medical records, but says because of their high cost per physician, "meaningful grants, loans and other financial incentives are essential." The organization also would like legislation introduced that would include physician input on technical standards of EMRs and assurances that no restrictions or additional privacy requirements be added beyond HIPAA.
