What will it take for banks to win back investor trust, ask Peter Eavis and David Reilly. Private-equity firms say archaic rules prevent them from riding to the rescue, but Eavis and Reilly say the rules rightly prevent the firms from using the bank like a giant credit card. It's not the rules, they say. "It's that banks haven't confessed enough to regain investor trust."
