Giant Khurais field key to Saudi production expansion

What happens at Saudi Arabia's Khurais field, a patch of sand 100 miles west of Riyadh, may determine what U.S. drivers will pay to fill their gas tanks for years to come. The undeveloped field is one of Saudi Arabia's last giant oil prospects. The kingdom is spending $10 billion in hopes of pumping 1.2 million barrels of oil per day -- more than the total individual production of Qatar, Indonesia and Ecuador -- from it and two smaller fields by next June.
