Obama pledges at Stonewall event to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

President Barack Obama, during a White House event for LGBT leaders to mark the 40th anniversary of Stonewall, used the occasion to announce that defense officials are working on a way to repeal the military gay ban as part of the administration's commitment to equal rights for all. "Even as we face extraordinary challenges as a nation, we cannot -- and will not -- put aside issues of basic equality," Obama said. "We seek an America in which no one feels the pain of discrimination based on who you are or who you love."
