Paulson to explain his role in Merrill deal to House panel

Former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is set to testify July 16 before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on his role in the merger of Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. Lawmakers are interested in whether the Treasury and the Federal Reserve forced the takeover. Since leaving office, Paulson has been working as a visiting scholar at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
