Shop-local campaigns spur sales

Some Main Street merchants are seeing a bump in sales from "shop local" campaigns springing up in communities across the U.S. One survey found that such efforts can help shield businesses in the depths of a recession, although experts wonder whether the effect is merely temporary. Ginger MacCutcheon, owner of a pet supply store in Ohio, says a short-term boost is enough for her. "This gives you the hope to keep fighting," she said.
