Antivirals help HBV patients delay liver cancer recurrence

Treating chronic hepatitis B patients who had liver tumors removed with antiviral therapy may slow or prevent their cancer from returning, researchers said. Study data found median survival for those on antiviral therapy was 60 months compared with 12.5 months for control patients, but researchers warned the drugs were not without side effects.
