Can Google help indie bookstores compete against e-book rivals?

Independent booksellers could get a leg up on e-book rivals such as Amazon, Apple and Sony via a partnership said to be in the works with Google's forthcoming e-books unit. Under the deal, Google Editions would become the main provider of e-books for stores that are members of the American Booksellers Association, the trade group for indie bookstores.
