Report: 28 states show increase in adult obesity rates

A new report shows an increase in adult obesity rates in 28 states over the past year, with Mississippi being named the fattest state in the U.S. for the sixth year in a row. The study by the Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation also shows that in more than two-thirds of states, more than 25% of adults are considered obese. Those numbers show a marked increase from two decades ago, when no single state in the nation had an obesity rate higher than 20%.
