Teacher at school for hearing-impaired leads service-learning programs

Martin O'Brien, who teaches social studies at the Maryland School for the Deaf, takes on service projects during spring breaks and summer vacation to help disadvantaged children across the world. O'Brien and seven of his students are traveling this summer to Senegal to help to open a community center for people who cannot hear. O'Brien has been raising money to educate students in Senegal with hearing impairments, and this is his third summer visiting the country.
