Banks make offerings more attractive amid volatility

Because of stock and bond volatility, banks including BNP Paribas and Morgan Stanley are making available certificates of deposit and structured notes that carry higher rates than what they have been advertising. "If the market conditions change, people sometimes make updates to their offering," said BNP Paribas' Serge Troyanovsky. "In our case, the change in interest rates allowed us to offer better terms, and that's what we did."
