Google unveils plans for "groundscraper" HQ in London

The new Google headquarters in London will not be as tall as the Shard skyscraper but it will take up considerably more land space. Google's 1-million-square-foot "groundscraper" at King's Cross will be about 1,083 feet in length compared to the Shard's 1,017-foot height. Subject to approval of its plan, Google plans to break ground on the project next year. The entire project, including land acquisition, development and construction, is expected to cost about $1.5 billion.
